Your pregnancy week by week: Week 9

Daddies, pregnancy is not a one-woman show! The last 8 weeks have been an emotional roller coaster for your partner and you can contribute to her well-being by supporting her and bonding with your unborn baby whenever you can.

What’s happening to your body:

Congrats mama, you made it to month 3!  Just one more month to go before you enter the second trimester! Just like the last 8 weeks, you are probably still feeling moody (sorry!). Daddies, don’t take your partner’s mood swings seriously, it’s natural with all the raging hormones and what not. It should tone down in the second trimester.

How your foetus is developing during pregnancy week 9:

By the end of the 9th week, your precious little one is now about the size of a green olive. He will measure approximately 2.3 centimetres long and weighs less than 2 grams. Tiny muscles are beginning to form as he’s gearing up to move his arms and legs. His reproductive organs, pancreas and gall bladder are also beginning to form. Another major development would be your baby’s heart. By now, it should have divided into four chambers. Though you can’t yet identify the sex of the fetus by ultrasound yet, his genitals have begun to form.

What you can do right now:

Pregnancy can be a stressful period especially for mothers-to-be. It is important to have strong social support from your spouse, family members and friends so that you can talk to them about what you’re going through and how you feel. You can also seek advice from online pregnancy groups about your pregnancy!
