When buying fresh milk or juices, it’s important to ensure that these beverages have been pasteurized to prevent foodborne bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella and Listeria. Pregnancy lowers the immune system, making food poisoning worse and potentially more damaging.

All milks sold in supermarkets are pasteurized, making milk low-risk. However, if you are a fan of the fruit juice stall in your local cafeteria, you might want to check its preparation methods. If you’re not sure of its hygiene standards, you might want to stick to squeezing your own fresh juice at home.
