Baby Cambridge, who will be the third in line to the throne, has decided to be fashionably late. Keeping the world in anticipation…On Monday July 22, after spending the weekend at Kensington Palace, Kate and William went to the hospital before 6 am without a police escort.

Royal baby birth details

Did you place bets for the baby’s much-debated name, weight, gender? Based on reports by The Sunday Times, as voted by the adoring public, the most popular girl’s name is Victoria and James for a boy.

According to a statement by Kensington palace: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24 p.m. The baby weighs 8 lbs. 6 oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.”

“The queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight.”

Royal baby birth place

The baby, Prince of Cambridge, whose name is yet-to-be revealed, was born in the Lindo wing at St Mary’s in Paddington. The same place where Princess Diana gave birth to Prince William and Harry. Top obstetrician Marcus Setchell, 69, who was the former gynecologist to Queen Elizabeth II, had the honor to be a part of the royal baby birth by delivering Baby Cambridge. According to officials, Prince William will be taking 2 weeks of paternity leave before returning to military duties.

The grandparents Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall said in a statement: “Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy.”
